Waterfall scarf

December 15, 2018

I have been wanting to make this scarf for all of this year, so I decided to finally make it this past week.  I knew it would be a bit slapdash to make it.  The waterfall nature of the scarf with varying lengths just look like you start cutting and see what happens.

Which is what I did!

I took a piece of bamboo spandex jersey knit that had been cut up already, folded it in 1/4, and then cut a circle for the neckline.

The circle was too big.  Next, I gathered the middle front and middle back, after putting it up on my dressform to figure out which was going to be the front and which was going to be the back.  I ended up making the back have more fabric than the front.  Then I cut the fabric to make it angle.  Once I got it off the dressform, I used a straight edge and rotary cutter to make the cuts nice and straight.  This is unhemmed.

I added a channel and ruching to the shoulders with ties made from extra fabric.

The cowl was a good 12″ long and the width of the neckline.  I made it with a matching fleece color, mainly since I didn’t have enough of the jersey.  It ended up being a wise decision since it made it cozy and warm!
