Next week I have plans to participate in Free Notion Spring Wardrobe Capsule. This weekend, I will be (hopefully) cutting out my fabric in preparation for sewing.
I have a need for basic tops for spring for work. I don’t have many that fit me right now (grew out of my old ones), and last summer I was really frustrated in getting dressed. Basic summer tops is definitely on my “needs” list.
Top patterns that fit my body right now:
- Princess seamed sleeveless top (my pattern)
- Kimono sleeved basic woven t-shirt (my pattern)
- Yoked sleeveless/sleeved top (my pattern)
- Flare top by Wardrobe by Me (should be released soon)
- Ravenna Top by Straight Stitch Designs (haven’t sewn this one yet, so we will see. I’m not doing the ruffles)
I am going to do at least two of those patterns for my wardrobe capsule. Bottoms are going to be:
- Pencil skirt pattern with doubled up waist
- Maxi skirt pattern – think I will add godets to it
- Pair of skinny pants – need to draft a pattern
The capsule is going to look like this:
Accessories: Bandolino Tadaa Wedge via Zulily, Stella & Dot Freya Fringe Necklace, Stella & Dot Arc Pendant Necklace, Wild Diva Veronica Boot via Zulily, Sketchers Bikers Metal Leather Loafer via Zulily
I plan on making the brown leather belt, but haven’t decided the style I want to do yet. The cream palazzo pants are from this post. I have yet to post about making those pants. I am really behind in some of my posts!
The fabric is going to be a mixture of stone, cream, brown and olive. I ordered some fabric from Spoonflower while they had their 1/2 off Modern Jersey sale. I ordered 2 yards of this one, which is meant to be for the flared tunic (basically will need most of a yard for front and back).
This is the smaller coordinate repeat for the sleeves, and the rest will probably be made into another top.
I have a pile of fabric waiting to get cut up into this spring wardrobe. I seriously have so much stuff on my to do list, that I am getting a little stressed out about it. I seem to keep adding things, don’t I??
Most of these won’t take me much time to make, so I’m not too worried about that aspect of it. These are fast sews for me, at least. It will probably take me a few weeks to actually get pictures. I plan to make some proper posts on these, and the patterns/drafting involved, so it might be more over the next month that I get them posted.
