Two BSD Sophias

I volunteered to test the Bella Sunshine Design’s Sophia racerback top/tunic/dress, and it turned out very nicely for a quick summer top.

I made two of them.  One for my daughter in a size 2, with the top length.  This is nice basic for her wardrobe.  I made it in bamboo spandex jersey from Nature’s Fabrics.

Here is the one for me in a size 12, and also in the black bamboo spandex jersey.  On mine, the length is between the tunic and dress, so it would have reached my knees if I had kept it at the dress length.

I took about 5-6″ off the length of the dress, but this ended up a bit short for a day at the racetrack.  The wind caught my dress a few times.  It was hot, but with a wind.  Hindsight being what it is…I should have probably only taken off 2-3″.  It will work with capris or leggings underneath, too, as the weather turns cooler.

The design down the side are two designs that I drew.  I cut out two of the first one and two of the second, though one was smaller.  I then cut and pieced them individually adhering them to the side of the dress before I made it.

This is a fairly loose fitting pattern.  It basically goes straight down from the bust, so it is good for hiding the belly!  It is also just super comfy on hot days where you don’t want anything clingy on you.
