I thought I would do a blog post on the status of my summer capsule. I wore it a lot more this summer, as I was working from home, so it was more practical to wear my comfy clothes than office wear. One of the perks of working from home!
In the spring of 2017 I made a summer capsule, knowing that I would spend a lot of time at the ball fields. I really like to wear skorts, so that is what I wanted for one of the base patterns. My skort pattern is one I drafted that has pockets on either side of the leggings underneath. They are practical and easy to wear when you are squatting to take pictures of your kids on the field.
I made a few skorts and tops that I could interchange, and then later I added to it.
Original capsule
These are the additions that I added to the orginal capsule, mainly this past summer.
Additions
Most of the fabrics are ones I designed, too. It is pretty easy to pick out something that matches. I also have some RTW items like a black tank top. I have black, red, white and grey sandals that I can wear with them and lots of silver jewelry!
The skorts are all my patterns. All but the racerback tops are my patterns. That is the Sophia from Bella Sunshine Designs.
My mermaid scale skort was slimmer fitting that the rest of the skorts and was pretty comfy, too. I put pockets in the outside of the skort and not the leggings, but the knit fabric pulls down with the weight of my phone. I think I prefer the more secure pockets underneath.
I do want to remake my original black skort, as it is too thin with the athletic fabric on it where it is see-through. The top also doesn’t have good recovery, so it tends to stretch out and not stay up very well. Maybe I will do a different style to mix it up.
That will be on the to-do list for next summer, though.
I will have some fall sewing to show soon.
Onto the next season!
