I did a last minute sign up for the Spring into Color blog tour set up by Sewing by Ti. This tour centers around the Pantone color palette for Spring 2018.
I decided to do the boring classic colors, mostly because I signed up late and they were really the only ones I had on hand.
I saw a few different interesting ideas for dolman tops, here and here, on Pinterest, so I decided to draft my own version using the George + Ginger Rulo top as a starting point.
I needed to lower the armholes, add a facing for the binding (with interfacing), added some grommets and moved the opening of the cinching to the shoulder, and added color blocking.
I think I could add more width to the arms to make them gather more, but I didn’t want it to go too low so it would show my bra. Now I have a better handle on how much I can add to them.
Overall, this was a pretty easy pattern hack!
This top also meets the week #10 color blocking challenge for the 52 Week Sewing Challenge on Facebook. I missed most of February for the challenges, so I hope to keep up now!
