I didn’t get much sewing in this weekend, as I was pretty far behind on housework (i.e. Mount Laundry). I also had a photoshoot downtown on Sunday and had to edit pictures from a shoot the previous weekend.
I have mostly decided to only take a few shoots on a year, and after those fill up I will gladly say “NO”. I just don’t have the time or the inclination anymore. It is hard to find the time to work on all those projects on my never-ending to-do list. Including exercising, which I need to do or my body gets mad at me. Adding in photoshoots that take an entire weekend day for me to get everything done…well, it’s just not worth the aggravation.
On to the sewing…
This first skirt is a navy/white pinstripe in an apparel weight fabric. It has lycra, and I used my usual skirt pattern with some added length. Sewed up nice and quick.
This next skirt is out of Stretch Jersey ITY Knit that I bought on fabric.com. It is a bit thin, so I doubled it up. The fabric feels wonderful on, but it is a pain to cut as it is rather slippery. I put in a wide elastic waistband, and initially I made it too long. Despite being thin it has some weight, which pulled the hem down. I had to cut off about 6 inches for this maxi skirt to be off the floor. I probably could have only cut four inches, though.
The color is closer to the inside picture. Early morning light was making the color correct all wonky.
Hopefully there will be time to sew up those pants for Kai this week. It’s not looking good so far, unfortunately. Busy, busy!
Both of your skirts turned out so well. I am really itching to sew something, but time has not been on my side.
As always. You are an inspiration. Love the layered hem on the second skirt. And wooooh mama..your exercise is paying off! how hot are YOU????
