Sewing project – oh so twirlable!

June 14, 2007

I haven’t posted much sewing stuff lately, have I?  The machine was put away for a few weeks and I’ve been feeling rather lazy.  This one just HAD to be completed though.  This little number is for my friend’s 5 year-old daughter.  Her birthday party is Saturday, so I was on the clock for this.  Her mom picked out the fabrics and I drew up a design.  It’s not perfect, but my first tries are rarely perfect.  I’m sure that I would probably be the only one that sees the imperfections, but yet, I would still like my creations to be PERFECT.  I’m anal that way. 🙂

Here is the dress…she loves purple, pink and twirlableness.  I also made a matching handbag, since every girl needs a purse to match her dress.

Here’s a close up of the details:  Satin ribbon, pinwheels and shirred back for a snug fit and comfort.

And I have yet to even start the little blonde one’s bathing suit…that she needs tomorrow.  Eek!

  1. You are SO incredibly talented! I wish I could sew. Alas, I was not gifted with that gene. I really like your family shot below too. I’m more than a little jealous.

  2. See now…. that must be why I have no creative/crafty talent what-so-ever. You got it all!!!! That dress is adorable… and I can’t believe you’re MAKING a bathing suit!

  3. boy that’s cute! seriously, you could quit your day job and sew, take picts and decorate for a living! you are an artist.

  4. *blush* Thank you all for the nice compliments! I really do love making fun little outfits for girls. And their little, so it’s easier to make patterns.

Colleen, don’t get too impressed about the suit…I’ll be impressed if I get it done tonight!

  5. Alissa, I really hope that once she starts wanting to choose her own clothes she will be a girly girl. With my luck she would be a tomboy! She really doesn’t like to play with purses or dolls at all. It’s funny when people talk about what they thought the sex of their babies were while pregnant, I was SURE she was a boy. 😉

    Natalie, thanks so much! 🙂
