I decided to tackle making Anya’s swimsuit. I wasn’t overly impressed with the suits that I saw in the store and wanted to try my hand at it. I didn’t buy a pattern, but did pick up 2t bikini on clearance at Children’s place. I wanted it for the bottoms pattern, even though it had “ho-baby” plastered all over it. BUT, it wasn’t as bad as some swimsuits I have seen for little girls.
I made her a bikini, but one with good coverage. Last year she had a teeny bikini, but she was a baby so it was cute for that age. I’m picky and choosy about my morals, aren’t I? I bought her a one piece last year and it was just too short for her torso. I love the versatility of bikini’s. Most especially when you have a child in a diaper, trying to potty train.
This was a remnant piece of swimwear fabric, but I just loved it. When you don’t need much fabric it doesn’t matter that the piece was full of flaws. The bottom need some tweaking, so I have to work on that. I’m planning on making her another one. There will also be another swimsuit yet, since I have more fabric. I love it when they don’t take me too long to make!
And here is Anya wearing her new suit…isn’t she cute??
So what do you think?
I think I’m jealous of your talent. That is just too cute for words.
Adorable! Too freakin’ adorbable!
Oh, my! I love it!
Really, really sweet. I was so anti bikini, but gave in when I found a cute on at the big Target. Yours is WAY better.
Thanks ladies! I love this fabric…it is so “Chanel” to me. I wasn’t so sure about doing a swimsuit, but now I have more confidence. It was fun to make!
*sigh* I have no talent because you apparently got enough for yourself and me and a million other women! This is adorable. I’m saying, you should be designing girls clothing for market.
😀 Thanks Melody! That’s a secret dream of mine…designing little girls clothes…but for now it will just stay a dream.
You really could sell those suits. Adorable. And great coverage! Anya looks pretty happy wearing it too!
