Apparently one shouldn’t beat an old horse with a new stick (?? where did that saying come from anyways??) I needed to come up with a new design. I already made three out of this pattern:
While each was a little different…same basic style. It’s semi-fitted with a cowl neckline, pockets, covers the butt, and lots of piecing and top-stitching.
I again perused Pinterest, and there really are a ton of sweatshirt designs. Many are a bit more fitted than I would like, since my weight thinks the only direction the scale goes in is upwards.
I purchased some new bamboo lycra fleece, which isn’t super heavy-weight, but still warm and soft.
So…design time.
This was the design for Sweatshirt #1. I will say that I designed it, and then cut it out weeks later, and forgot what some of the pattern pieces were supposed to look like. Then sewed it up months later…trying to figure out what I intended. It has no pockets, and the cowl I wasn’t sure what I intended. My memory…it’s got issues. This is the darker blue with Dark Shadow fleece from Nature’s Fabrics that I had in my stash.
This next one was an attempt at replicating these sleeves (my January Pinterest project):
Not quite as easy as I thought it would be. I had to cut the sleeves in two pieces with a seam down the center to get the gathering at the raglan sleeve and keeping the shoulder length correct. Then when I gathered and serged the pieces together, the fabric stretched out the gathering. My next try had a seam below the gathering before serging, and that worked better. Still a work in process, so I may make another top to try again.
This has the cowl like my other pattern, but no bottom band or pockets. I ran out of fabric (1.5 yards is not enough), so I used some sherpa I had in my stash. Should be a nice warm neck!
I still haven’t tried it on yet, but hopefully I will start back up with weekly outfit posts.
Next…I made another of my regular pattern dress. Again 1.5 yards was not enough of the coffee colored bamboo lycra fleece, so I had to sub in some ribbed knit. It works nicely as an accent and gives it some interest.
That is all that I have cut out right now. I have plenty on my crafty to do list for the rest of the month, so I will have to get on that now that my cutting table is clear!
