So…I got some sewing done!
Whoop, whoop!
I even took pictures for a tutorial on how to make one of these bad boys, since I have made so many of them. It is my current favorite baby gift. They are easy and so fuzzy!
These blankets take about an hour to make and I would guess it costs about $20 to make one. It depends on where you can get your minky and flannel. I usually get my minky for around $8/yard at a local mill, but I know it can sometimes be spendy. Honestly, you can probably find one in the store for about the same amount as you would spend on supplies, but you get to customize them for the gift recipients. The tan one below is for friends that like to go camping and be outdoors, so I figured the cute woodsy scene would be good for their little boy.
The worst part of doing one is probably the mitered corners. I have done it just about every way possible and this way is the easiest I have found. Feel free to try something different…this is just my way. Could be the wrong way…but it works for me.
Here are the ultra cute blankets!
The next challenge will be actually getting them in the mail. That should take a good few weeks for me…I have a hard time getting things in the mail.
I have a Mei Tai to make, too. That will take a bit longer than these gifts. It was a special request, so I need to get on it. I think the baby was born in January…so, yeah….need to get on that!
Hey sweet Stace!! These look like beautiful blankies. I have a whole bunch of flannel ready to do a rag quilt when I get a few minutes in between work/s….let’s keep each other motivated!
