In the spring I went up to the big fabric warehouse and brought back many pretty pieces of fabric. This was one of them. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very wide, and I only bought 1 yard of it. Normally, I could make a shirt out of 1 yard of fabric, but not when it isn’t very wide and it is woven.
I ended up cutting out the front of the shirt, and then doing a pieced back with another black rayon I had in the fabric closet. I think it works just fine together now.
The pattern is one that I drafted off of a RTW top, and I really love the fit on it. It is just the right length to either tuck in or leave out. I made another one earlier this spring and I wear it often.
I made this the night before my 20th high school class reunion. I had nothing to wear in my closet. Oh wait, maybe I did! I wanted something new, so I settled on a new pair of wedge heels and a new shirt that I made.
This is basically the outfit I wore. Just sub in a pair of black trouser shorts for the capris. It was outside on a hot day and it was a pig roast buffet with 2 kegs of free beer. I wasn’t going to go all formal with that line up. A lot of the ladies wore dresses, but I didn’t feel underdressed in my shorts. I actually had a better time when I went with my sister to her 20th reunion, where they went to a bar the night before the more formal festivities.
On the website where they had set up profiles for everyone to fill in before the reunion, it asked what was our favorite memory from high school. I said “Graduating”.
That pretty much sums up those years for me. I enjoyed high school RODEO. Actual high school, I just studied and tried to muddle through the social stuff. I am glad I got to catch up with some of my old classmates, but I am not sure we will be going to the 25th class reunion. There is nothing like paying $100 to talk to people that ignored you in high school.
OK, you look awesome! Hard to believe 20 year reunion. I felt the same way about my 20th so I didn’t go and I don’t regret it at all.
