This print may not be of the bunny named Peter, but it is cute nonetheless. This is another shirtdress that I made for Anya for Easter.
A few things I did differently this time:
- I made a collar stand for the collar. I like it much better this way.
- I omitted the ruffle attached to the placket. I wanted this one to be a little simpler.
- Lowered the waistline, per Anya’s instructions. She didn’t like the waist so high on the other dress.
- I didn’t cover the belt in fabric. I just sewed a matching ribbon over one side of it.
- I did buttons instead of snaps (didn’t have the right color snaps). Luckily I had enough of one type of vintage button in my stash.
- I didn’t put elastic in the sleeves. She wasn’t too keen on it in the other dress.
I used three different fabrics for this dress. The bunny fabric, a cream fabric with flowers on it and an embroidered linen blend for the yoke and placket.
The little bunnies are so cute!
collarstand!
Then, because late April can still be a little chilly, I had an excuse to make a fuzzy jacket to put over the top. I have lots of leftover minky pieces from all those baby blankets that I make. I buy a yard and they are always at least 12-16″ wider than the flannel fabric. I really should make up a stock of those little ribbon blankies to use up the minky pieces.
This is just a simple jacket I made using a long-sleeve shirt pattern. I just widened everything to accomodate for it going over the dress. The body is lined with a white knit, but the sleeves are not lined. I used a gold hook clasp to secure it, which is easy for Anya to use.
She wouldn’t try it on, as it is for Easter. She was a bit chagrined when I told her Easter was several weeks away. 😉 Hopefully, I will get some pictures of her wearing it then.
I just can’t get over all of the details.
You never fail to impress.
I think you perfected it with this one. It turned out so lovely. You have been sewing up a storm lately.
It’s official – this is my new favorite creation of yours! I love every single detail… just WOW!
Now I must resume pleading Mr. Daddy for a girl 🙂
Nice all round. Good use of the minky fabric too!
