Last week I took off from work with the intent that I would sew all week and be productive like last year. That didn’t quite happen. I didn’t start sewing until Wednesday night and didn’t get as much done as I would have liked. I was still able to churn out some clothes in between lounging about and reading books.
Anya was my willing model, singing and snapping her fingers to the beat while I took pictures of her in her new outfits for fall. They are all knits and should be pretty comfy. The leggings are from a pattern I’ve used the last few years and the tops are all modifications I have made from a basic long sleeve t-shirt pattern I know that fits her.
First up is a cute pink and black number. I did a bunch of shirring in circles on a cut piece of fabric. I didn’t cut out the pattern piece until after I shirred, though. I just made sure it was large enough to handle shirring and having the front cut from it afterwards. It has a few matching buttons sewn in the midst of it, too. I added a ruffle to the bottom, matching leggings and a cute little outfit was born.
This one was my basic make-this-up-as-I-go-along top. I wasn’t sure how the fit would turn out, though. After I had her model it, I tacked down the overlapping parts in front as they gapped when it was on her. These leggings also match a top/dress down below, and there are leggings I made her last fall in the dark pink that she can wear with this, too. I was going for a mix and match wardrobe this time.
Which is fairly easy when the child only wants pink and purple.
This is a tiered little dress with a faux jacket over the top. The fabric is unicorns with rainbows…totally girly. I added white ribbon down the front of the jacket. It is hard to see, but the rainbows have a black/dark-navy in them, so that is why I chose to do black on top. I think this fabric would lend itself pretty well to jammies, so I wanted to dress it up a bit. The leggings have a bit of sparkly in them, so I think they will be a little itchy. She was just happy with the sparkles, so I think she will still wear them. They also match the top above.
Sweet little girl outfit. Mucho pinkness and should be pretty comfy to boot. I made this top a bit wider and loser. I embellished it as well as I could, and the little girl picked out the pink buttons.
This is a cross over dress whereby I was trying to use the last of the dark pink and stripe. Alas, I still have a bit more to use up. I must say that being a prolific fabric buyer certainly helps when you are trying to match fabrics up together. I didn’t buy any of these at the same time, but they still matched up really well.
Well, that’s all folks. I have to take pictures of the 2 pairs of pants I made for Kailan, yet. I also have 5 shirts cut out for him that I need to sew up yet. He still needs more pants than that, so I guess I will need to decide whether I want to make them or buy more fabric. I don’t have a lot of bottom-weight boy fabrics, unfortunately. I haven’t been in my local fabric shop for months, though. I should show up so the ladies don’t think I have died or moved away. 😉
Great looking outfits, Anya will be the best-dressed girl around.
5 outfits plus and a few pairs of pants in one week is considered productive in my book! the top one is my fav – I could totally see N in that.
Great outfits. You always put such great colors together.
These are fabulous! I love the retro look of the second dress. You do amazing work Stacy!
I love all the outfits. Mixing and matching is crusial in our house. Eventhough sometimes there is more mixing than matching. I am with Christina. Looks like a productive week to me. Anya is going to be stylin’ in her new outfits. Can’t wait to see Kailan’s tops and pants.
Ever thought of starting your own clothing line?! :0) the first outfit totally grabs me with the little cinced flower in the front. Such wonderful outfits Stacy….All of them.
Wow look at all those great outfits! I didn’t know pink was a fall color though. *tease* 🙂 Although the 1st one is my favorite.
Ah these are SO CUTE! I have not had the sewing itch for a little while, but I think you just passed it to me. That first outfits is insanely cute!!
I wish I could sew. These are all fantastic.
