Here is the last print I sewed up for the current rounds open at Fabric Anthropology/Thread Therapy Fabric. I volunteered to sew up too many fabrics this time. I didn’t keep track of what I had already signed up for, soooooo…yeah, a little stressed with getting them sewn up and photographed!

This is one of those “I’m gonna draft something new!” times where it did not go as planned.
While I love the fabric (Coral Ocean), I am not a huge fan of how it turned out. Part of it is just me, and that I just haven’t been taking care of the extra weight I have put on in the last several years. Everything is too jiggly with the clothes fitting a little too well. I have started to exercise again, so baby steps.
I had wanted it to have a shape closer to this dress, but I did the dark blue/purple piece wrong without enough of a flounce. It ended up being too sheath-like, which is NOT what I was going for with this fabric. Bamboo lycra tends to show all the lumps and bumps. It is best to be used with patterns that have more drape. The purple fabric is one I designed and is printed on Performance Pique, which is a polyester with similar drape to the bamboo lycra. Due to the fitted nature, I added in godets on the side to give it more room.
I am bummed the original version did not turn out. I still think it turned out pretty, though. The fabrics have such great, vivid color. I have already worn the dress out and received a compliment on it, so that is always a nice thing to hear!
