My accomplishments this week
Focus Photo –
Sewing –
- I made this top, which received a ton of likes and comments in the Facebook groups. I haven’t gotten a lot of comments (or any) lately, so it was nice to get some love for something I drafted and made. It’s funny that I got so much attention for this sweatshirt top when I have made a lot more complex pieces with no comments!
- I cut out 4 small hip bags, and made the up. Three are gifts. I still need to get the pattern drafted and a tutorial up on them.
- I made a pair of velour pants for Christmas, and it matched a cardigan that I made last year pretty well!
- I made a wrap for my grandma for Christmas to keep her warm.
- I made a fun purse for myself.
- I don’t have a lot that I NEED to get done, so I have been taking a little break from sewing. Occasionally I need to do that! I do want to get my room cleaned up a bit and my fabric organized.
House cleaning –
- It is party season, so I have been trying to make sure the house is all cleaned up and guest ready. My sewing room is a bit of a mess, so I need to get that cleaned up at some point. Mostly I just keep the door closed…
- We got our new living room furniture delivered, and I love it. I really hope these sofa’s have a nice long life, unlike the 4 years we had the other set. I need to work some cornstarch in between the pieces, though. They are very squeaky when the recliners are raised. The pillows on them are ones I made a few years ago with silk and velvet. I think a few bigger ones are needed though. The middle piece needs a big one to lean against, since it is a little awkward sitting in the corner.
Time with family –
No shortage of that with all the parties and such!
Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
- I have been trying to exercise, but it is slow going. I am sooo out of shape. The scale is pretty dang bad right now.
- Made a few things:
- Week 48 was basically a baked ham and a few pans of lasagna and then we ate out a little bit. So…not exactly super healthy.
- Week 49:
- Coco’s cutlet chicken and gravy – The kids loved it. I purchased the Medium/Hot gravy mix off of Amazon to make this, and it was not spicy at all. Even my “pepper is too spicy” girl liked it. Not really heathy with the fried chicken, but we don’t fry food all that often.
- Pork chops in the crockpot and roasted rutabaga with Tahini dressing
- There were a few other things, plus dinner out. Busy weeks here on out until the New Year.
- Week 50-52 wasn’t much for cooking. Lots of night things going on, so fast food freezer stuff was on the table.
Creative Design –
The last few weeks have been a lot of tiled designs. I also made a bit of a tutorial on how I do these designs. . I’m sure more will be forthcoming this week.
They are all up on my Society6 page to buy on various items.
Reading –
I read Stalking Jack the Ripper, which is a YA book we purchased for our daughter. She likes strong heroines, and this girl is a bit dumb at times. Not sure she will like the book. It was a decent read, though, and I’d like to read the rest of the series just to see how the main characters fare. It’s not a particularly deep read, but enjoyable for what it is.
I also read the Moonshadow series by Thea Harrison, and it was really good. I like her Elder Races novels.
That is my wrap up for 2018. Now onto more of a monthly one for 2019. I think that will be much easier for me to do!
