Focus – Week 8

February 27, 2018

This week was all about the house.  New floors started going in on Monday, so the house was tore apart by Sunday night to get everything out of the 4 rooms.

It was so, so messy.

In between the floor guys being in the house, I was painting.  Let me tell you, painting with vertigo is more fun than a sharp clawed cat in a bathtub full of water.  Not by much, though.

By Wednesday I had quite the headache, but still needed to finish up painting the dark blue dining room an offwhite color (Sherwin Williams color: Crisp Linen).  I had to go over it THREE times and do THREE gallons of paint.  Not fun.  I repainted some spots in the office, and still need to touch up the paint in the entryway, which goes up the stairs.

Then…it was time to clean.  So much dust and dirt tracked in.

My accomplishments this week

Focus Photo –

Making art…

Sewing –

  • My 52 week sewing challenge and #makenine progress was non-existent.  Just the “had to do’s” got done this week.
House cleaning –

As described above, this week has been a chore and a half.  After the floor installers left, we were left with a lot of dirt/snow mix tracked in, dust and a house in disarray.  We vacuumed, washed the floors (got a new Bissel for that), and then put everything back.  Then vacuumed and washed the floors again.

  • The office was redone, so we put our new desks together and in place, and then moved in our computers and gaming equipment.  We put a tall filing cabinet in the basement, so that will house the majority of our filing.  The office is just current/work stuff.  The dust in that place was unreal, let me tell ya!  I will post a picture when everything gets put in place.  We ordered a new rug to cut down on the echoing in there.  Probably won’t work great with rolling chairs but it should be low pile.
  • I painted the dining room 3 times, then put everything back in and scraped any paint spots off the floor.  Some are having a hard time coming off.  I lost my plastic briefly, so unfortunately, the floor got some paint on it.  Now I need new curtains/drapes and fabric to recover the chairs (some are marked up from spills).  I also need to get new artwork, since what we had in there won’t match anymore.  The big windows are very much open to the neighbor’s view, so need to get those curtains figured out first.  Yay for sewing boring curtains.
  • Cleaned out closets, so now we have a pile of things to donate and recycle.  That will be this week’s project…dropping them off and getting them out of the house and garage.
Time with family –

Despite survival mode last week, my girl and I did some artwork and painting together while trying to stay out of the floor installers way.

Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
  • We are going to call last week in as a big FOUL.  No dishwasher and painting every night meant leftovers and pizza.  I didn’t exercise, but I did work, so there was that.  There were some days I barely ate or only had one meal since we were so busy.  Not a great week overall.
Creative Design

Need to get these ordered now and see how they print.  I sized them so it would work for a skort.

Reading –

No time for sitting around this week.  Plus, our library was not usable.  Here are all our books back in their homes, though.

Every library needs library kitties (the other one is laying down behind the one sitting). 🙂

I’m hoping next week life is back to normal.  This week we just survived and made it through.
