Whenever July 4th is in the middle of the week, we don’t seem to go anywhere or do anything. This past week we were just tired, so we stayed in and watched a Band of Brothers marathon. It was nice to sit and do nothing. I almost finished a loom knitted scarf during the marathon. I showed the Phoenix I did on the computer last week, so I guess I went a week early with that one.
My accomplishments this week
Focus Photo –
This past weekend was State Softball tournament, and we had family over. Did I get pics of the family togetherness? Of course not! Another major photo fail. I guess maybe I was just enjoying the moments?
Sewing –
- My 52 week sewing challenge for the week was stripes. I finished up this striped top to go with a skort I made in May, I think.
- #makenine progress: Nothing this week, though I need to start working on what I want to make for a Fall project. One of my #makenine’s is slated to be used for an outfit.
- This is a baby blanket gift for a friend. They have been out East since soon after the babe was born to be with her family after her brother died. Hopefully this will cheer them up a bit. I love making these. The minky is so soft and they are a nice sized blanket for the babies.
- A dress I made from fabrics from Zenith & Quasar and a pattern I made for a strike off that I did earlier in the year. I’ll get a blog post up on it.
- Finished up the loom knitted scarf by the end of the week. Now it just needs the leather band and snaps for it to be truly finished. This ended up being a looser weave than I would have liked. I prefer them to be a bit fuller, but then this will be more comfortable to wear inside as an accessory.
House cleaning –
- I continue to make lists for the kids. It helps a little at any rate!
- I had a pickup scheduled this week for items to go to charity. I am not a fan of Goodwill, so I usually try to hold out for some of the other charities that come to you. I tend to use Disabled American Veterans.
- A box of stuffies is going to the Pine Ridge Reservation for the kids. She loved cats, dogs and horses, so that is the majority of the stuffed animals.
Time with family –
- My parents and sister came over for the State Softball Tournament and then stayed overnight. It was a nice time hanging out with everyone. We could have gone back home for the 4th of July, but we needed to work on Thursday, and it would have been a long day of driving there and back when we were already so tired out.
Health, exercising, making healthy meals –
- I love summer cooking. I have been buying ready to serve salad packets, so I just grill up some meat, add a salad and we have a quick dinner that isn’t too involved or too full of fat. I have been slowly working on getting healthier. My cooking is an area I really need to work on.
- Fell off the work out wagon for the week. Time to get back at it.
Creative Design –
- I already showed my Phoenix from last week.
- Drew this one over the weekend. Not totally in love with it, but that’s okay. Sometimes things turn out weird. 🙂
