Finding a use for my scribbles

I felt like doing some more freezer paper stencils, so last Saturday I sat down and drew out some designs. 

This first design is for me.  Michaels had a sale on their adult t-shirts, so I bought a few of them.  Unfortunately, they are a bit tight.  This is a medium and it fits more like an x-small.  Oh well, I just can’t eat when I wear it. 😉  (It looks like it has yellow on the top, but it really is all white!)

This next design I made for Anya.  Notice the hearts?  I made it into a pretty dress for her.  I had to mix this paint myself since I didn’t have any purple paint.  I think the purple was close enough to the fabric so they don’t clash too much. 

I wasn’t paying attention when I did the hearts going down the back, since they are on the opposite side of the hearts going up the shoulder on the front.  Oh well, there’s always another attempt I can make for this design. 

The skirt is a double circle skirt and I just finished it by going around the bottom a few times with the serger.  I like how the white thread ties it into the top.  I didn’t intentionally intend for the skirt to be two layers.  When I folded up the fabric and cut it out in one continuous piece, I had it doubled up.  I cut a few inches off one of them so it is layered.  The little yoyo “flowers” are from the circles cut out of the middle of the circle skirt.

No modeling shot yet.  She was being a little bit cantankerous.  I’ll try to get a shot of her wearing it at some point this week and put it up in this post.

Then I finally used this fabric that I bought last spring.  It is a knit with one of my fabric designs on it, which I paired with a brushed Lycra/knit.  This was a brand new pattern I used from Ottobre Design Woman 5/2010 and the pattern was #4.  I cut it in a size 40, which fit fine except for the arms.  They are too short.  It is still wearable but annoying.  I will use this again, but I will add about 4 inches to the length of the arms.  I hate it when they are too short. 

Oh and Anya’s Packer pants.  This is my own pattern.  I added ruffles that I cut off a white shirt I had stained and then a bigger ruffle I made.  You can see her wearing them in the post below.  She was pretty cute.

Now after that burst of creativity…I need to sew some baby blankets for gifts.  A few more babies have snuck up on us, and with this cold winter I think they definitely need some soft, snuggly blankies! 

I also have a skirt cut out from the Butterick 4859 pattern (out of print now).  The fabric is really slinky, so I know it is going to be a huge pain to sew.  I’m trying not to stress about how annoying it will be to put together, though.  At least I don’t have to put any darts in, due to the design of the skirt.  I might even get it done by next week…I hope.
