Oh February…you didn’t last long and I didn’t get much done. Mostly due to constantly being gone for out-of-town volleyball tournaments. So far this year, we have been to Chicago, Omaha x 2, Des Moines and Milwaukee. We are coming down to the end of the kids’ high school years and club volleyball, so that is the priority right now.
I did get some time on Sunday morning to try to get something done in my sewing room, and honestly I just sat and couldn’t get started. I was in Crafting Paralysis where you have so many projects you want to get done that you can’t make a decision on what to start. I ended up watching several episodes of Stargate SG-1 (I’m rewatching and on season 6 now!), cleaned out a mending bin, looked at lots of fabric, sewed up some leggings I had cut out in January, and then decided to just make a simple tank top to match a pair of new Puma sneakers I got on Zulily. I didn’t have time to get it done before we had to leave for a volleyball pool play, so it sits there unfinished. I started to come down with another cold-like thing on Monday. I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into bronchitis again, but the coughing is there again.
My “hogwarts keys” leggings. I only had a yard, which shrunk a bit, so I had to add in some dark brown for the top. It will be hidden under a long top, so no big deal.
My February goals and what got done:
- February Pinterest Project: I have a few different ones that I would like to draft. This first one is using this type of collar for a cardigan pattern. I think the collar will have to have some interfacing in it for it to not be too floppy. Didn’t get this drafted yet.
- Second Pinterest project is a version of this top, only longer. I also want to make a tunic/short dress to go under it. Nope.
- A purse for my sister like the last purse I made. I need to ask her what colors she wants first, and may order some different fabric for it. That means it will get pushed another month. Didn’t get this done.
- I need to get the kids wrapped up in duct tape so I can work on patterns for them. Didn’t get this done, either.
- I have a few simple projects to work on, like a leg pillow for sleeping. My current one is all kinds of lumpy from being washed many times and the stuffing moving around. I may try to do something to make that not happen. I’m sure I will upcycle the filling from old pillows I have washed and are in my sewing room. Yep, not done.
- Exercise 3x/week. Yeah, no.
- 4 art projects. Well, I basically got 2 done, but they turned out super cool. I started a few others, so hopefully I will get them done in March.
March Goals:
So now onto March, which is also a fairly full schedule. I’ll just try to do my best to get something done. March is basically everything I didn’t get done in February…which is pretty much everything I had planned for February.

- A purse for my sister like the last purse I made. I have two sets of canvas fabrics and leather that I think I will sew up and then give her the option of choosing one of the three purses, or I will make her a different one. We’ll see what I can manage to get done in March. At this point I will settle for just getting the pieces cut out.

Now this should be pretty simple, so I will put this at the top of my list.
- Exercise 3x/week. One of these months I may be motivated enough to get on this.
- 4 art projects.
