It seems pretty rare these days when a woman has long hair, and then even moreso if she knows how to actually style it. The ability to style long hair seems to have been lost since the advent of feminism and women’s ability to cut it all off.
My hair has been long most of my life, with a few short cuts in between. I was a bit upset at my mom when she cut my hair all off and gave me the Orphan Annie perm in 1st grade. I started growing it out again, to cut it off in 7th grade. Then it was long until I cut it shoulder length my 2nd year in college. Too many perms in high school, so I needed to start over.
I grew it out until I could just about sit on it, then donated 12 inches to Locks of Love. I still had long hair, per most people. It was past my shoulders. I cut 8 inches off again 2 years after and donated it to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths. Now I am coming up on another 2 years, but I won’t be cutting it off this October. I want to keep it for a bit to play with it. Maybe next year…
I’ve learned over the years how to do updo’s, pretty much on my own. I just played with my hair until it stayed up and it worked. I used to put my hair up in a french twist just about every day for work. Now I do different hairstyles. I even did my nieces’ prom hair, as I was pretty proficient at doing updo’s by that time. I love the fact that now we can find hairstyle tutorials on You Tube to see how other people do their hair. So fun!
I ran across this Australian blog called Hair Romance. Her hair is shorter and thinner than mine, so not all of her styles will work with mine. I do like her 30 days challenge for herself, though. I think I’m going to do that myself, only it will be more like 25…just during the week. For work I get all jazzed up, but on the weekends I don’t try very hard. If I do end up trying…I’ll take a picture. 🙂
I think I’ll count this and the last two posts as the start of my 25 days of hairstyles, so this is day 3.
Shirt – Me
Skirt – Me
Necklace – Michael’s (just bought a pendant they had in their jewelry supply section and put it on a silver chain)
Earrings – Lia Sophia
Shoes – Unlisted
Hair – Part hair down the middle and french braid each side to the end. Secure with pony tail holders. Take them and put them in a pony tail in the middle. Wrap each one around and tuck the ends. Pin in place.
Hi Stacy
Thanks for commenting on my blog so I could find yours! I love your hair, it’s beautiful. I’m so impressed it’s so long and that you’ve donated hair not once but twice!
I love this style, it’s so pretty and love the waves it made the next day. That’s what a great updo should do – give you a few more days of beautiful hair before you have to wash it.
I’m going to follow your 25 days, I think you have amazing hair!
